The Under Secretary of State for Foreign
Affairs presents his compliments to the Under
Secretary of State for the Colonies, and with
reference to the Colonial Office letter of the
23rd August last (30209/27) and subsequent
correspondence relative to the proposed amendment
of the Hong Kong "Chinese Extradition Ordinance,
1889" is directed by the Secretary of State to
transmit to him herewith a copy of a telegram
from His Majesty's Minister at Peking. (The
despatch from His Majesty's Consul General at
Canton therein referred to has not yet been
received)
2. Sir Austen Chamberlain would be glad in
the circumstances if the Governor of Hong Kong
might be asked to repeat to Sir M. Lampson the
telegram which, as the outcome of the inter-
